Mahogany Cartonnier Desk, Directoire Period - Early 19th Century

Directoire desk opening with three identical drawers along the belt. These drawers are fitted with working locks with spade keys and circular gilt bronze entry. The tapered sheathed legs end in simple sabots. The perimeter of the desk is fitted with brass rods also highlighting the belt and drawer fronts. The opposite front of the desk is fitted with three false drawers. The top of this piece is upholstered in thick leather with a gilt vignette.
