Oak Apothecary Counter – 1920
This apothecary counter opens on the front with a double sliding glass door giving access to a storage space, with adjustable glass shelves, flanked by a mirror. The body, below, is paneled, the fluted uprights are embellished by consoles, with fine scrolls, delicately worked. The whole is topped with a gallery with turned bars accompanied by a small platform bearing the number 17 which was once used to raise a statuette in babbitt. The opposite face of the piece of furniture is lined with numerous drawers, compartmentalized, whole or dressed in metal, of different dimensions and furnished, for each of them, with a metal handle. Two large niches are also present. Old, practical, ideal for organizing items while offering a work surface and storage space, this apothecary counter is the perfect example of the know-how of cabinetmakers from the beginning of the last century. ********* Period: 1920 Excellent Condition: Finish only waxed after stripping.
