Object description :

"Edwardian 15-carat Gold Mechanical Pencil"
Perfectly functional, usable size and in superb condition, this mechanical pencil holder is made of yellow gold. It is equipped with a ring and a bail to attach it to a watch chain or a chatelaine. It bears the hallmark "15ct" as well as an illegible maker's mark. It is engraved with the initials MCB in the old English alphabet and the date 1918.
The pencil, hidden and protected in the tubular body, is released when you press the top of the clip. To retract it, simply turn it over and press again. Could this not be the ancestor of the BIC pen?
The pencil is not the original one.
Perfect condition, English origin, early 20th century.
Length 9cm closed, diameter 1.2cm
Weight 30g
