Important Portico Clock With Gilded Bronze Obelisks, Louis XVI Period 16
An important portico clock with obelisks in black Belgian marble and white Carrara marble, the base decorated with gilt bronze axle-drivers with chains. The base of the obelisks is decorated with trophies of arms with a radiant eye in the oval shields. On the obelisks, lion muzzles hold chains with a cannonball. A flaming grenade is perched at the amortization of the obelisks. A sculpture in the round in gilt bronze represents the Roman god Mars. Rare with its original balance in the shape of a pelte, crescent moon shield, with in the center a mask of a radiant woman and two rooster protomes. Signed by Lemoine in Paris Mechanism with date of days 1 to 31 Condition: missing chains especially at the back, movement to be revised and enameled dial to restore.
