Lino Sabattini (1925-2016) was an Italian goldsmith and designer. Self-taught, he trained in metallurgy by working in a copper factory. He moved to Milan in 1955, where he created his own workshop. There, he met Gio Ponti, who helped him gain international recognition, notably by exhibiting his creations in Paris. Thanks to this growing reputation, he became design director for Christofle from 1956 to 1963. He created everyday objects with a minimalist aesthetic for the famous goldsmith house. In 1964, he founded his own factory, Argenteria Sabattini, in Bregnano (Lombardy). Today, his works are exhibited in prestigious institutions, such as the MoMA in New York, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
