Pierre-Anne Dedreux - French Academy in Rome - Watercolor ca 1816 It has caught a little sun on the sky, it has a defect to be restored on the sky above to be restored. Signed and dedicated to Constanse Piol Pierre-Anne Dedreux, born in Paris on 28 May 1788 and died in the same city on 8 September 1849, was a French architect. He was awarded the First Grand Prix of Rome in 1815. He was the brother of Pierre-Joseph Dedreux-Dorcy, a close friend of Théodore Géricault. He entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1807 in the studio of Antoine Vaudoyer and Charles Percier. He was awarded the First Prize of Rome in 1815 with the following title: "École Polytechnique pour 320 degrés" [1]. He entered the French Academy in Rome (Villa Medici) on 18 January 1816 and remained there until 1819. [2] His trip to Rome included the Theatre of Marcellus in 1817 and the Temple of Mars the Avenger in 1818. At the end of his trip, he visited Naples, Sicily, Greece and Asia, accompanied once by Jean-Nicolas Huyot, before returning to Rome in 1820. This was the first time a pensioner was officially allowed to travel to Greece, at the expense of the Academy. There he would study several theatres with the aim of beginning the restoration of the ancient theatre of Orange upon his return, a project he never completed. [3] He then settled as an architect in Paris. He designed other châteaux and private residences, as well as theatres. He was a founding member of the Société Centrale des Architectes in 1840, which became the Académie d'Architecture. She was married to Élisabeth Adélaïde Colin (1785-1874) and her children Alfred de Dreux (1810-1860) and Louise Marie Becq de Fouquières (1825-1892), both painters[2].
