Mysterious Egg Cup, Boxwood, Silver Mount, 17th Century, Traces Of Votive Inscriptions

Small boxwood egg cup, very old, all split, quite a few scars on this utilitarian object which has a beautiful patina.
Mystery is elsewhere: it received a rich custom-made silver mount, thick, with full foot, reinforcement ring and upper border surrounding lip, of cut and engraved wolf teeth, typical work of 17th century that was used to mount collectibles.
One of the explanations could be discovered from a manual inscription engraved on upper edge, but someone wanted to make disappear it, (see photo) I thought I read -honor- some numbers…
This object comes from the collections of an old Languedoc merchant…
