"19th Century 1st Empire Napoleon Carnelian Black Enamel On Yellow Gold Multi-row Bracelet"
Flexible bracelet dating from the 19th century, First Empire Napoleon (Bonaparte), in 750/°° (18 KT) yellow gold. It is composed of two parts: as a multi-strand bracelet, it is composed of five supple, round jaseron links, and its clasp, also serving as the main motif, as it is adorned with a delicately colored carnelian plaque, enhanced around its edge with black enamel characteristic of the period. This enamel, in perfect condition, reveals by contrast motifs evoking the laurel wreath of the Emperor Napoleon, as well as palmettes, in accordance with the neo-antique spirit favored by the Emperor. The gold is finely chiseled both around the edge of the clasp and near the carnelian. The clasp, with its rectangular and rectilinear shape, and its delicate work, is in keeping with the Napoleon I aesthetic in its sobriety. The flexibility of the chains makes the bracelet very flexible and comfortable to wear. As a “ratchet” clasp, the closure of the bracelet is invisible within a “box”. On the back of this box, there are several hallmarks including those evoking a Nordic royal crown. An antique jewel with a particularly delicate and careful finish, rare, in very good condition.
