Its base is a veined green Alpine marble (verde alpi) resting on four legs.
A gutter on the front allows you to judiciously place the pen.
The step is decorated with a covered inkwell complete with its glassware (late frosted cup), and a bronze patinated spelter eagle with outstretched wings perched on a rock. French work dating from the Second Empire (Napoleon III period, 1852-1870).
Although the rooster once again became the emblem of France during this period of history, nostalgia for the Napoleonic First Empire inspired many founders and bronze makers who decorated several of their creations with an eagle in motion on a promontory. This inkwell is complete and in excellent condition.
No chips or missing parts.
The original lid hinge works. Unsigned inkwell, but in the style of the productions of Albert Marionnet (1852-1910).
