"Pair Of Louis XVI Armchairs"
Pair of large upholstered armchairs from the Louis XVI period in waxed carved wood. Model with a flat back, The structure is in carved natural wood, probably beech or walnut, with an old patina, with a beautiful wear of time which gives charm to the whole. The pair has undergone restorations especially to reinforce the corners, so some pieces of crosspieces are later than the 18th century The tapestry is in the state and deserves to be changed. Characteristics Backrest: Slightly curved shape on the top with a cutout in the shape of a gendarme's hat. The uprights end with delicate floral sculptures. Characteristics Armrests: The cuffs are upholstered in fabric, slightly curved, placed on recessed consoles, fluted and rudentées (hollow sculptures). We notice beautiful notches of aging which underline the authenticity of the piece. Characteristics Seat: Wide and comfortable, upholstered in fabric. The seat has a flat bottom, is fitted with period straps and has been redone in the traditional style. Characteristics Legs: Tapered and fluted legs with connecting dice decorated with rosettes. Typically Louis XVI, they give the piece elegance and stability.
