Mughal silver and gilt box, India, 19th century. Box richly decorated with champlevé enamel decoration representing flowers, foliage and fantastic animals. The lid, very slightly domed, is decorated with rubies and niello friezes on its exterior face. The interior has a gilded and guilloché background, decorated with branches and a bird. No visible hallmarks. Length: 5.8 cm. Width: 4.7 cm. Height: 3 cm. Weight: 67 g. Very good condition - some tiny enamel chips on the lower part.
