Lasserre Georges born February 20, 1920 in Paris and died March 27, 1999 in Clamart. He entered the Naval Academy in 1939. After training on several cruisers, he was assigned in 1942 to the submarine Casabianca, which became famous for its secret missions in the Mediterranean during the Second World War. Refusing to scuttle the ship during the occupation of Toulon, the crew reached Algiers, escaping the Germans. He then participated in several clandestine missions in Corsica in 1942-1943 with the Pearl Harbor mission, delivering weapons to the Resistance and leading field operations in which he became a direct participant after being stuck on land. He lived for a month in the maquis with his comrades, sharing the life of the Corsican resistance. He returned to Algiers in March 1943 after having transmitted important information. Lasserre continued other missions in Corsica with the Casabianca, until the liberation of the island. He also participated in operations to torpedo enemy ships, before receiving his first command on the minesweeper Capucine in 1944. After the war, his career continued at the highest level of the French Navy: submarine commander, promoted to rear admiral in 1972 and vice admiral in 1978, he commanded the Strategic Oceanic Force, supervising the first nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines.
