"Reliquary Frame “of The True Cross” Gilded Copper, Openwork Rocaille Decoration, 18th Century Tyrol"
Reliquary Frame in fire-gilded (mercury) copper sheet, stamped and chiseled, openwork, in symmetrical Rocaille style. Crowned with a cross bearing a small crucified Christ in silver, of the three-nail type. Two oval openings superimposed in the center, framed with rocailles, showing: - at the top: capsule - reliquary sealed at the back, containing a tiny fragment, in cruciform, "of the True Cross of Christ". - at the bottom: miniature painted with left-handedness representing the Apostle and Protomartyr Saint Matthew (attributes: book and axe). Tyrol, probably Innsbruck from the beginning of the 18th century. Very good condition.
