"Blackened Pearwood Sideboard, Napoleon III Period – Mid-19th Century"
Elegant Napoleon III sideboard in blackened pear wood, topped with Carrara marble, decorated with gilt bronze ornamentation and inlaid with chiseled brass motifs of scrolls, foliage, flowers and ribbons. It opens with a framed door, decorated with a beautiful composition of chiseled brass forming ribbons, garlands of flowers and acanthus leaves surrounding a vase. This is surrounded by inlaid brass fillets and a scalloped bronze arch. This door is fitted with an ornate key accompanying the original lock in working order. On each side of this cabinet, the uprights are fitted with gilt bronze falls. In the lower part, gadrooned bronze rods surround the cabinet in a recessed manner. The whole rests on four scrolled feet. The upper part of this sideboard is decorated with a floral frieze surrounded by inlaid brass threads. Above, a white Carrara marble veined with gray is embedded and surrounded by shaped bronze ingot molds. The interior composed of mahogany veneer has two adjustable shelves on racks. ********** Period: Mid-19th century Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop. French varnish finish.
