Vessiere Nancy Art Nouveau Glassware Set, Circa 1900 – Pâte De Verre

Art Nouveau glassware set, circa 1900, made of pâte de verre, signed on every piece: C. VESSIERE NANCY.
It is hand-painted and decorated with thistles.
This flower is a symbol of the Virgin Mary and became, in the 16th century, the emblem of the Lorraine region, and more specifically, of the city of Nancy.
The motto associated with the thistle is "Qui s'y frotte, s'y pique" ("Touch me and you’ll get pricked").
This prestigious glassmaking house still exists today.
Each piece is hand-decorated and signed.

The set includes:

One tray (dimensions: 23.5 cm x 23.5 cm)
One decanter (height with stopper: 27 cm)
Ten small glasses (height: 5 cm)
