The work is in very good condition. It is mounted under a passepartout and glass, framed with a molded and gilded baguette. It is signed in ink in the lower left corner.
This work was created by Claude Chopy, a French illustrator, born in 1916 and died in 1995. He specialized in book illustration and worked for various prestigious publishers. He notably illustrated Letters from My Windmill by Alphonse Daudet, Rebecca by Daphné du Maurier, The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas.
He worked mainly in watercolor and produced color illustrations, often reproduced outside the text in luxury editions. His works demonstrate great technical finesse, particularly visible in his nature and hunting scenes.
