"Box In Speckled Maple, Amaranth Stringing And Mother-of-pearl Marquetry, Charles X Period"
Refined rectangular box in bird's eye maple, highlighted with amaranth stringing and decorated in its center with a marquetry motif representing a stylized amaranth star, punctuated by a mother-of-pearl circle. This elegant geometric decoration is fully in line with the sober and precious taste of the Charles X period (circa 1825–1830), where fine woods and discreet but refined graphic compositions were favored. The angular black stringing at the four corners reinforce the visual structure of the lid. The interior, lined with green velvet, is also veneered in maple. The whole reveals a beautiful mastery of marquetry and a keen sense of decorative balance. Dimensions: Width: 24.6 cm Depth: 16.2 cm Height: 9 cm Condition: very good overall condition. A thin crack visible on the lid (veneer), without structural fragility. Some wear and old restorations. Functional closure. Varnished wood, ready for use or collection. A charming, elegant and balanced piece, emblematic of small luxury objects during the Restoration.
