Louis XIII period or very early Louis XIV (17th century).
The frame's sides are openwork, with 2 lights in the center of each side, which is uncommon.
Very good condition with its original gilding. The red plate is visible in rare places (edge).
The sculpture is very fine with an alternation of repeated floral motifs and relief palmettes.
There is minor gap in joints that can easily be re-glued.
Dimensions:
17,5 x 15 cm for the frame
and 11,4 x 9,4 cm for the rabbet.
2,5cm depth for the frame
The frame, perfectly symmetrical in both directions, can be used freely in its formats: upright or lengthwise.
Very pretty and precious authentic frame, in impeccable condition, ideal for enhancing a miniature (portrait,...), an illuminated manuscript, or even an enameled copper plaque.
