"Watercolor Signed Ernest Filliard (1868-1933)"
Still life painted in watercolor representing a turquoise blue cup containing blue gentian flowers placed in front of a white earthenware vase with blue patterns, in the background we can see a wallpaper in yellow ochre tones. The watercolor which measures 9.30 x 7.5 cm, is signed E.Filliard at the bottom left. The frame measures 14.3 cm wide and 12.5 cm high. Ernest Filliard (1868-1933) is a painter from Savoy who excels in watercolor still life, flowers are his favorite subjects. In 1895, the artist from Chambéry won the Pillet-Will prize. He went to Paris and lived in Montparnasse. Elected member of the Society of French Watercolorists in 1906, he received an honorable mention at the Salon of French Artists two years later and then in 1911 a third class medal. In 1914, the state awarded him the Legion of Honour. In 2016, the Faure Museum in Aix-les-Bains dedicated an exhibition to him.
