"Candlesticks Vestal Sculptor Ferrat (1822-1882)"
Majestic pair of large candelabras from the
Napoleon III period circa 1860, stamped "Hte. Ferrat" for Hippolyte
Ferrat, an important French sculptor born in 1822 and died in 1882.
Made of gilt bronze, patinated bronze and marble. Figure with vestals,
each different, in similar postures, supporting a jar chiseled on its
contour, from which spring the candlesticks finely ornamented with
twists, scrolls and fleur-de-lis. Five-light candlesticks whose candle
holders are equipped with original and removable wax protection, at the
top rests a perfume burner as a damper. Marble base highlighted by
bronze frieze contours.
