SILVERWARE

Very heavy solid silver tumbler on pedestal, Regency style, called with "appliques"

*MINERVE hallmark (applied to solid silver in France from 1838 - i.e. a content greater than or equal to 925/1000) and goldsmith's hallmark to identify (on the edge around the pedestal)

*Goldsmith's mark in a diamond shape T Fres topped with a pot for TETARD FRERES in Paris.
This illustrious and renowned goldsmithing house was founded by Edmond TETARD at least in 1881, then taken over by his 3 sons Henri, Jacques, and Georges starting in 1903, who modified the mark to the current one. The goldsmith workshop perpetuated by the family closed in 1978.

The most surprising thing here is the very high weight of the cup, 294g.
This is in fact a cast silver model, i.e. a print from a mold of an early 18th century origina,  and casting of silver into this mold. The cup was then entirely and very finely reworked in chasing.

Dimensions
9.4 cm height and diameters at the neck 8.5 cm by 7.5 cm (oval polylobed or fretted shape)
Very nice and high quality of detail and chasing.
This is a reproduction work of one of the most famous goldsmith workshops in Paris, showcasing here 2 of the most successful and emblematic models of the 18th century French.

This tumbler is part of a pendant with another very beautiful model of  cup with appliques... To be discovered in my previous listing (plesae check the last photo). Possible discount if both cups are purchased.
