TWO FRENCH GOLD INSIGNIASFrancia, Third Republic (1870-1951), National Order of the Legion of Honour, instituted in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte. An 18 kt gold sash and breast badge, consisting of a five-pointed, double-pointed cross with a white enamelled spherical end, decorated with green enamelled oak and laurel branches in each quadrant, the whole surmounted by an enamelled oak wreath. Assayed with the notation "eagle" (after 1838). Approximate weight: 56.8 g. Dimensions: (height) 11.4; 6.7 cm. Good condition
