Biography :
André Thuret (1898-1965) was a French master glassmaker. From 1922, he held engineering positions at the Bagneux and then Bezons glassworks. In this capacity, he participated in the 1925 Decorative Arts Exposition, earning an honorary diploma. Since 1926, he divided his time, focused on glass, between teaching, scientific research, and his artistic work. All of Thuret's vases, bowls, and flasks are unique pieces, blown and worked using traditional techniques at temperatures exceeding 1,000 degrees Celsius. André Thuret exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in 1928 and 1932 and was invited to participate in the "Glassware and Tapestries" Exhibition in the United States in 1929-1930. Since the Liberation he has exhibited regularly at the Salons des Artistes Décorateurs, Salons d'Automne and in various galleries and, in 1951, took part in the Glass Exhibition at the Pavillon de Marsan.
