Description:

Exceptional fratino table in walnut, made in Veneto at the end of the 17th century, a perfect balance between austerity and baroque refinement, a distinctive stylistic hallmark of Venetian cabinetry from the period.

The entire structure is crafted from solid walnut, a noble and durable wood, enhanced by a beautiful patina that adds warmth and depth to the surface. The top consists of a single large walnut plank, a prized feature that reflects the high quality of the workmanship.
The most distinctive part of this table lies in the base: the legs, shaped with sinuous volutes, are connected by elegant double-curved stretchers, masterfully carved according to a fully baroque decorative vocabulary, yet never excessive. The rhythmic flow of lines and curls creates a dynamic effect that visually lightens the robustness of the structure.
The assembly is done using traditional mortise and tenon joints, without any hardware. The central stretchers, often found in refectory tables of this kind, serve a dual purpose: reinforcing structural stability and acting as decorative elements. The lower part is connected to the top with dovetail joints.

The term “fratino” recalls the tables used in monasteries, from which this piece draws inspiration, although it is a much more evolved and refined version, intended for patrician residences.
Perfect as a console table, entryway centerpiece, or dining table.
