Rare and precious oval reliquary in glass and silver-plated metal, containing a fragment of the Holy Thorn, relic insignia of the Crown of Thorns worn by Christ during his Passion.
Description
The relic is carefully presented in the center of a floral composition in rolled paper, decorated with a green fabric background, and surrounded by the handwritten inscription “Sancti Spinea DNJC” (Sanctae Spinae Domini Nostri Jesus Christi).
The reverse is sealed with an intact red wax seal, attached with red silk threads, guaranteeing the authenticity and integrity of the relic.
This reliquary is accompanied by its original certificate of authenticity, dated and signed by Cardinal François-Marie-Benjamin Richard, Archbishop of Paris (1826–1908), officially attesting to the sacred origin of the relic.
The certificate, printed and handwritten in Latin, bears the embossed emblem of the Archbishopric of Paris and explicitly mentions that it is a fragment of the Holy Crown.
