Superb richly carved solid walnut prie Dieu, mid-19th century. Our ortaire rests on a rectangular base. A sumptuous Renaissance-style carving work makes up the entire piece of furniture. An impressive acanthus leaf delicately supports the part of the oratory forming a lectern. This acanthus seems to emerge from a shell connected by a double work of scrolled consoles to a basket filled with fruits and flowers. The base and the lectern are covered with their original fabric made of a purple velvet with a studded finish. The whole is in very good condition but obviously has some small wear from use.
