Cylindrical soap opal crystal goblet, polychrome and gold painted decoration with the inscription Souvenir, framed by two flowering branches of roses and forget-me-nots, executed by the workshop of Jean-Baptiste Desvignes, between 1817-1826. In very good condition, very small wear in the painting, see photos. Decorated opaline goblets are given on the occasion of New Year's gifts, a baptism, an engagement or a wedding, in memory of a political event or to celebrate a popular festival. The most used ones take up a formula such as souvenir, esteem, love, friendship, generally intended to be given as a gift.
