The vase has an essential ovoid shape, without accessory decorations, with a harmonious profile and a slightly flared neck. The body is covered with a light blue, opaque and uniform enamel, which enhances the formal purity of the object. The slightly satin-finished surface accentuates the balance between modernist sobriety and functionality. This type of finish and minimalist design are typical of Guido Andlovitz's production for the Società Ceramica Italiana di Laveno in the post-war period, particularly in the period in which Andlovitz directed the artistic office of the factory.
Model 1316 fits fully into the search for a synthesis between form and function pursued by Andlovitz, one of the protagonists of 20th-century Italian ceramics. The collaboration with the San Cristoforo brand, later an integral part of SCI, represented a particularly fruitful season, characterized by modernist forms and highly refined monochrome enamels.
