"Art Nouveau Lectern, Early 20th Century."
This rare music room lectern, in sycamore, consists of a music stand and a base. The music stand is openwork with a plant and flower interlacing, suggesting two treble clefs. Its lower, curved part is intended to receive a score or a book. It is rotating and tiltable as desired thanks to a gilded bronze mechanism. The rod, extending it, slides to adjust its height. Two 'butterfly' keys block the two systems. The base consists of a shaft in the shape of a 'sheath', with strong grooves. The top, in 'capital', and the base also bear plant and arabesque motifs. The whole rests on four nervously curved feet. Beautiful work, in perfect condition, very representative of the Art Nouveau of Hector Guimard (1867-1942)
