Object description :

"Louis XV Style Weekly Chest Attributed To François Linke Or Joseph-emmanuel Zwiener – "
Louis XV style chest of drawers attributed to François Linke or Joseph-Emmanuel Zwiener – Cube marquetry, gilded bronzes and anthropomorphic silhouette, Napoleon III period Sumptuous curved chest of drawers with seven drawers, a masterpiece of cabinetmaking from the second half of the 19th century, attributable to François Linke (1855-1946) or Joseph-Emmanuel Zwiener (or Svener), two of the greatest masters of art furniture from the Belle Époque. This piece of furniture with its curved lines on all its faces seduces with its anthropomorphic form, evoking a feminine silhouette: rounded top, cinched waist, widened base and arched legs give it a remarkable sculptural presence. This design is typical of the refined creations inspired by the Louis XV style, revisited under Napoleon III with pomp and elegance. The marquetry known as "bottomless cubes", executed in precious wood, adorns the front, sides and top, enhanced with delicately composed volutes and fillets. The rich gilt bronze fittings – foliate falls, sabots, handles and keyholes – are finely chiseled in the style of Boulle and Riesener, and elegantly highlight the curves of the piece. This piece bears witness to exceptional work, comparable to the productions of Linke and Zwiener, both famous for their imperial commissions and their international exhibitions, notably at the 1900 World's Fair. Attribution: François Linke (1855-1946) or Joseph-Emmanuel Zwiener (also known as Svener)
Period: Napoleon III, circa 1880-1890 Origin:
France, Paris Special feature: anthropomorphic silhouette, geometric marquetry, gilt bronze
