"Eska Triple Calendar 3-counter Chronograph "
At the end of the First World War, and the conviction that economic growth would soon resume, many people founded watchmaking firms in 1918. Among them was Sylvan Kocher & cie SA in Granges, and in 1922 the company was established in Selzach. One of Kocher's trademarks was Eska, an anagram of the initials of his first and last name, which he patented. Under the Eska signature, Kocher manufactured a wide range of wristwatches for women and men, including hand-wound or automatic models, calendars, and chronographs. The movements used most often came from SA ebauches. The model on offer is a beautiful and rare calendar chronograph watch from around 1940. It has a round steel case with rectangular pushers and a clipped back. The silver dial has three counters, with a minute totalizer at 3 o'clock, an hour totalizer at 6 o'clock, and a permanent second hand at 9 o'clock. Days and months in windows, and a date with a moon hand. Hand-wound mechanical movement with a column-wheel chronograph system. This superb example places the brand among the greatest, a dressy, chic, and elegant watch with complications. Eska, a confidential brand well-known to collectors and lovers of fine watchmaking.
