Rare Herend porcelain dinner service, Queen Viktoria pattern, 62 pieces. The Hungarian Herend manufactory owes its fame to the special beauty and uniqueness of its many hand-decorated services. Fischer Mor's "Victory" decoration made the manufactory world-famous in the early 1850s. Yellow, red, blue, and purple roses, butterflies, and other small insects make up this oriental-inspired yet Hungarian-style decoration, which was a huge success at the 1851 London World's Fair. In addition to the gold medal awarded by the jury, the recognition is also due to the fact that Queen Victoria of England herself, after whom the service is named, commissioned the "Butterfly" service for Windsor Castle.
