Signed “A. GENNARELLI” on the plinth and numbered “A-7291”.
Artist: Amedeo Gennarelli (1881-1943).
Also provided with the round foundry stamp of the famous “Fonderie des Bords de Seine”, Paris.
Cast in fine bronze with a warm, slightly brownish patina.
Refined bronze sculpture by the Franco-Italian sculptor A. Gennarelli, created circa 1925. The elegant unclothed female figure sits upright on a neoclassical plinth and holds in her outstretched hand a dove, a poetic symbol of peace, freedom and hope. The dynamic movement of the flowing hair and the graceful gestures are typical of Art Deco and demonstrate Gennarelli’s stylistic proximity to the Schools of Paris.
