The box has a fretted shape, the body is made of plain silver.
The lid is set with a beautiful agate plaque that follows the contours of the box. It is enhanced by the engraving on the lid rim, which features a frieze of flowers and rocaille shells.
The agate plaque is particularly beautiful, with alternating white and brown bands on a translucent background of great purity. Such transparency is rarely found on mounted agates of this type.
The interior of the box is made of silver gilt.
A very fine box, typical of 18th-century English production, with this characteristic shape and stone.
