BIOGRAPHY
Michel Gilles was born in 1943 in Nîmes. He began painting in 1960. Six years later in Paris, he met Giacometti, Arroyo, César, Ricalcati, Télémaque and Buren. From then on, his exhibitions followed one another.
71 in Paris, 72 in Montpellier, 73 in London. The same year he directed, produced and directed an experimental feature film: "Suerte".
1975, he continued in cinematographic art, in collaboration with Thierry Attamassio. From this association was born a short film: "Trace".
1976, he returned to painting and exhibited in Uzès.
In 1981, with the painters Astor, Bourret, Laurent, Merlin and Stetka, he created "La Fresque de l'Adrecht": 600 m2 classified by Jack Lang, then Minister of Culture, in the inventory of Historical Monuments.
1984, Casablanca in Morocco welcomed his works.
1985, he participated with the school of Seville in the Feria de Nîmes exhibition.
Then he returned to Morocco in 86 where he worked for David Amar, advisor to the King.
In 1988, he exhibited with Arroyo, Chambas, Formica, Pires and Viallat.
The architect Jean Michel Wilmotte commissioned 4 paintings from him in 1990.
His works are exhibited in Germany, Morocco again, Spain, Italy and of course in France.
2000, creation of the poster for the Pentecost and Harvest Fair in Nîmes. This poster also illustrated the 3rd World Congress of the Union of Bullfighting Cities.
