Two portraits cut from a page of this work published in 1493. Small frames circa 1960. A martyr, and Pope Calixtus III 1378-1458 The book is a biblical paraphrase in the form of an encyclopedic universal chronicle including histories of several European cities. Commercial enterprise launched in 1491 by two Nuremberg merchants, Sebald Schreyer (1446-1503) and his brother-in-law Sebastian Kammermeister (1446-1520) - A German and Latin version were printed. The publisher and printer was Anton Koberger, Albrecht Dürer's godfather.
