A very pretty painting depicting a scene with a thatched well, probably located in Veules-les-Roses Géo Weiss painted mainly genre scenes, but also portraits, landscapes, and still lifes. He was a student of Léon Bonnat and Antoine Grison. He made his debut at the Paris Salon in 1880 and exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français. He was one of the founders of the Salon d'Automne, of which he became treasurer. Some of his paintings were inspired by Ernest Meissonier, and his work is close to the tradition of certain Swiss or Alsatian painters, such as Gustave Brion. A member of the League of Patriots, he contributed to its official publication, Le Drapeau. In 1910 he married Jane Nérée-Gautier in Paris
