Victorian diamond star brooch in 18 karat gold. This large star-shaped brooch is a celestial jewel with 16 points. Eight are set with rose-cut diamonds, the other eight are in smooth gold. In the center is an old-cut diamond weighing 0.55 carats. This motif with multiple tapered rays, sometimes called the "Star of Bethlehem" or "Comet Star," is typical of late Victorian or Napoleon III jewelry.
