Tiger's eye swivel ring in 18 karat gold. Antique ring with a swivel oval bezel, set with a large flat cabochon of tiger's eye quartz. The chatoyancy of this quartz comes from the fine parallel inclusions of crocidolite it contains. Unlike hawk's eye, these fibers have been naturally oxidized by iron, taking on warm hues ranging from golden yellow to brown. Antique swivel ring, circa 1880, France.
