Jacques Ruelland (1926-2008)
A student at the end of the 1940s in the painting section of the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, Jacques Ruelland turned to working with clay in 1951. With his partner Danielle, he learned ceramics at the Atelier des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Jacques Ruelland enjoys working with oxides and is inspired by painting but also by theater, dance and music. In 1970, the couple left Paris to settle in the south of France where they occupied two studios in Mont-Ventoux and Les Angles. Jacques and Danielle Ruelland refused to compartmentalize their research, continuing to experiment with forms, techniques and materials.
