Large polychrome glazed ceramic planter with poppy decoration signed Jerôme Massier in Vallauris (1850-1926). At Jerôme Massier's we always notice a quality, an unequalled depth of enamel which makes the colors and their gradient vibrant. The bright pink of the poppy flower is highlighted by the background which fades from the purple of the base to a cream at the neck. Apart from a firing defect in the enamel on part of the base, and on the vase, and a very small chip on the neck it is perfect.
