"Pair Of Ceremonial Armchairs, Faces With Hoods, Haute Epoque Style, Renaissance, 19th Century"
Imposing pair of molded and carved walnut state armchairs in the Haute Epoque / Renaissance style, made in the mid-19th century. Magnificently carved, our armchairs have a very interesting and rare decoration on the armrests representing the faces of hooded men with a somewhat mocking expression. The base of our seats is worked in sheep bone, all covered with very fine acanthus leaves present including on the rear legs. This motif is repeated on the armrests. Both wide and deep, these armchairs are very well padded and extremely comfortable. They are covered with a cream-colored fabric decorated with sheaves of wheat and wreaths of flowers. The woodwork is in perfect condition and very healthy. The structure is very stable. Upholstery and fabric are recent, the fabrics have tiny little marks without the slightest impact. Superb seats, very original.
