Charles Camille Chazal (1825-1875) was a student of Michel-Martin Drolling (1789-1851) and François-Edouard Picot (1786-1868) at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He made his debut at the Salon in 1849 and, in the same year, he won the Second Prix de Rome. The Museums of Dieppe, Château-Thierry, Montpellier and Saint-Etienne hold some of his works.
