Excellent quality and condition, this large example illustrates the work of this New York painter who trained in Paris before residing in the UK for five years. This work was brought from Paris to the UK by Horton, where it was subsequently sold to the family who own it to the present day. Signed and presented in its original antique frame. Dimensions: 94 cm x 84 cm approximately (framed)Artist BiographyWilliam Samuel Horton trained at the Art Students League (ASL) and the National Academy in New York, under JP Laurens in Paris and Benjamin-Constant at the Académie Julian. He occupied Winterhalter's former studio in Paris. He traveled to Europe and took refuge in England in 1914, before returning to the United States in 1919. He won medals at several exhibitions in the French provinces. He was a member of the Société du Salon d'Automne. At 14, Horton drew Indian reservations for North West Magazines.
