Born in Pontivy in 1880 Henri Duringer "went up" to Paris at the age of 18 on the advice of his uncle who had created the Breton Federation of Paris with his friend Charles Le Goffic.
In Paris he frequented many Breton artists, especially Adolphe Beaufrère whose palette can be seen in the work presented. Throughout his life, he painted Brittany, exhibited regularly in Paris and died in Vannes in 1980.
