Beautiful gouache by Eugène Galien-Laloue, depicting the entrance to a village on the banks of a river. The composition is particularly well balanced, with a clump of trees and a mill in the center, the village on the right, and two women chatting on a path on the left.

The artist
Eugène Galien-Laloue is a French painter and engraver born in Paris on December 11, 1854 and died in Chérence on April 18, 1941. He is famous for his Parisian urban landscapes. His work is also closely linked to the village landscapes of the Ile-de-France countryside.
He painted landscapes of Normandy, Seine-et-Marne, Marseille, Italy and Venice. The pictorial production of this artist, under his own name or pseudonym, was plentiful.
He painted under his own name, but especially under various pseudonyms: Léon Dupuy, Eugène Dupuy, Juliany, Eugène Galiany, Jacques Liévin, Eugène Lemaitre, Maurice Lenoir, Dumoutier, A.Languinais…

Artist exhibited in France (Museums of Fine Arts of La Rochelle, Mulhouse, Reims) and in the United States (Huntington Museum of Art).
Galien-Laloue's works have been the subject of numerous public sales.
