JAPAN - Edo period (1603 - 1868). Complete samurai armor all in suite. KABUTO by SAOTOME Ienaga (17th century, resident in Hitachi province) with sixty-two lamellas in black lacquered wrought iron. THEHEN NO ANA (opening at the top) in gilded copper with four steps. SHIKORO (neck cover) with four steps in black lacquered iron and blue silk braiding. MABI SA SHI (the visor) in black lacquered wrought iron. FUKIGAESHI (the fins) in black lacquered iron decorated with the MOGAMI clan mon. MAEDATE in gilded wood representing a knotted cloth, it is topped with the Mogami clan mon in openwork copper. MEMPO (samurai half-mask) in lacquered wrought iron, pronounced chin, mobile nose, pierced nostrils, visible teeth and horsehair moustache, the inside red lacquered, sweat hole under the chin.YODARE-KAKE (gorget) with four steps in black lacquered iron and blue silk braiding.DO (breastplate) with nine lamellas in black lacquered iron, blue silk braiding and finely engraved and gilded copper ornament, stamped with the mon of the Mogami clan.SODE (shoulder guards) with seven steps in black lacquered metal and blue silk braiding.KOTE (arm guards) in chainmail and black lacquered iron plates.KUSAZURI (skirt) and HAIDATE (cuissards) with five rows in black lacquered leather and blue, white and orange silk braiding, decorated with two plates inscribed with the name of Myochin (line of renowned armorers dating back to the 12th century).SUNEATE (greaves) in shiny black lacquered iron plates, fabric and gilded leather.
