Glaude Galle/fontainebleau, Rare Pair Of Empire Period Candlesticks.
Rare pair of gilt bronze and brown patinated candlesticks from the Empire period. Delivered by Claude Galle (1759-1815) in 1807, for the Palace of Fontainebleau, this model is found, according to the 1810 inventory, in one of the salons of the Cour des Princes (n°9).
The National Archives describe his candlesticks as follows: "Two candlesticks, round palmette feet, baluster stem, tulips at the bottom, 0m28."
These candlesticks are referenced in the catalog of furniture bronzes brought under the First Empire to Fontainebleau, by Jean Pierre Samoyault. N°173.
Original gilding and patina, in a very beautiful state of preservation.
