Description
Reliquary medallion from the second half of the 19th century, containing a precious relic of the True Cross of Christ (De S. Crucis). The sacred fragment is fixed in the center on a red cloth, surrounded by delicate filigree gilded arabesques.
The handwritten inscription “Lignum SS. Crucis” (“Wood of the Most Holy Cross”) confirms the authenticity of the contents.
The medallion is adorned with a richly worked silver-plated metal frame, openworked with floral motifs and scrolls, with a raised cross surmounting the whole.
On the back, the medallion is sealed with a red episcopal wax seal, guaranteeing the integrity and authenticity of the relic.
