Elegant and comfortable pair of Directoire armchairs in light gray painted beech, late 18th century. Their inversion backs receive an openwork decoration of five columns and armrests with carved cuffs resting on baluster consoles. Their seats with molded straight crosspieces rest on baluster front legs and saber back legs. Traditional upholstery redone (with the addition of small springs for more comfort) and covered with a reissue of bistre toile de Jouy on an ivory background "antique scenes" enhanced with light green trimmings.
